In 2017Q1-Q3 the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway amounted to 43,749 vehicles and was higher by 6.5% than the traffic level recorded in the same period last year (41,061 vehicles). In 2017Q1-Q3 toll revenue amounted to PLN 237,779 thousand and was higher by 9.5% than in the same period last year (PLN 217,065 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT is mainly due to the change of toll rates for trucks since March 1, 2017.
As far as cars are concerned, the ADT increased from 34,477 vehicles in 2016Q1-Q3 to 36,785 vehicles in 2017Q1-Q3 (6.7% increase). In 2017Q1-Q3 toll revenue from cars amounted to PLN 160,801 thousand and was higher by 6.3% than in 2016Q1-Q3 (PLN 151,277 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT for cars is mainly due to the fact, that 2016 was a leap year.
As far as trucks are concerned, the ADT increased by 5.8%, i.e. from 6,584 vehicles in 2016Q1-Q3 to 6,964 vehicles in 2017Q1-Q3. While toll revenue from trucks in 2017Q1-Q3 amounted to PLN 76,978 thousand and was higher by 17% than in 2016Q1-Q3 (PLN 65,788 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT for trucks results from (i) the leap year in 2016, (ii) the change of toll rates since March 1, 2017 (from PLN 16.5 to PLN 18 and from PLN 26.5 to PLN 30) and (iii) differences in vehicle category structure (depending on the category different toll rates are applicable).
Management Board believes that the positive trend in traffic growth is related to the developments in macroeconomic situation and is also the result of users’ appreciation of high standard of motorway.
