Average Daily Traffic and toll revenue on motorway Katowice-Kraków in 2023H1

Aktualności EN 29 September 2023

In 2023H1 the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway amounted to 46,067 vehicles and was higher by 1.6% than the traffic level recorded  in 2022H1 (45,330 vehicles). In 2023H1 toll revenue amounted to PLN 230,764 thousand and was higher by 24.4% than in 2022H1 (PLN 185,476 thousand).

As far as cars are concerned, the ADT increased from 37,278 vehicles in 2022H1 to 37,969 vehicles in 2023H1 (1.9% increase). In 2023H1 toll revenue from cars amounted to PLN 142,525 thousand and was higher by 24.1% than in 2022H1 (PLN 114,867 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is the result of both the change in toll rates on July 4, 2022 and April 3, 2023, and the consistently increasing share of automatic payments (for which preferential rates apply) in the traffic structure.

As far as trucks are concerned, the ADT increased by 0.6%, i.e. from 8,052 vehicles in 2022H1 to 8,098 vehicles in 2023H1, while toll revenue from trucks in 2023H1 amounted to PLN 88,240 thousand and was higher by 25% than in 2022H1 (PLN 70,610 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is the result of increase in toll rates, which changed on the same dates as for cars.

Comparing the current data of 2022, it ought to be noted that in 2022Q1 the Group recorded a point increase in traffic at the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine, caused by a wave of migration and aid to the Ukrainian citizens. Additionally, from March 1, 2022, after prior agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure, vehicles with Ukrainian registration numbers, as well as vehicles or groups of vehicles reported by Polish non-governmental organizations and foreign organizations and persons as providing aid to Ukrainian citizens, became exempt from tolls. The exemption from tolls for vehicles with Ukrainian registration numbers was in force until May 31, 2022, and vehicles reported as providing humanitarian aid are still toll exempt.
