Average Daily Traffic and toll revenues on motorway Katowice-Kraków in 2020Q1

In 2020Q1 the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway amounted to 37,718 vehicles and was lower by 10.2% than the traffic level recorded  in 2019Q1 (41,989 vehicles). In 2020Q1 toll revenue amounted to PLN 72,146 thousand and was lower by 7.9% than  in 2019Q1 (PLN 78,329 thousand). The observed decreases in traffic and revenues are a consequence of the limitations of social and economic activity, caused by the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and COVID-19 cases, of which the Group has already reported earlier in current reports.

As far as cars are concerned, the ADT decreased from 34,889 vehicles in 2019Q1 to 30,977 vehicles in 2020Q1 (11.2% decrease). In 2020Q1 toll revenue from cars amounted to PLN 43,174 thousand and was lower by 13.8% than in 2019Q1 (PLN 50,083 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is due to the introduction of preferential (lower) toll rates for automatic methods of payments at the beginning of year 2020.

As far as trucks are concerned, the ADT decreased by 5.1%, i.e. from 7,100 vehicles in 2019Q1 to 6,740 vehicles in 2020Q1, while toll revenue from trucks in 2020Q1 amounted to PLN 28,972 thousand and was higher by 2.6% than in 2019Q1 (PLN 28,246 thousand). Difference between dynamics of toll revenue changes as compared to dynamics of ADT changes is mainly due to the introduction of new toll rates since March 1, 2019 (increase from PLN 18 to PLN 20 and from PLN 30 to PLN 35), but it was also affected by other factors such as  the introduction of preferential (lower) toll rates for automatic methods of payments at the beginning of year 2020 or the differences in vehicle category structure (depending on the category different toll rates are applicable).
