In 2017H1 the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on the concession section of the A4 Katowice-Kraków motorway amounted to 41,009 vehicles and was higher by 7.5% than the traffic level recorded in 2016H1 (38,161 vehicles). In 2017H1 toll revenue amounted to PLN 148,407 thousand and was higher by 9.6% than in 2016H1 (PLN 135,383 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT is mainly due to the change of toll rates for trucks since March 1, 2017.
As far as cars are concerned, the Average Daily Traffic increased from 31,774 vehicles in 2016H1 to 34,194 vehicles in 2017H1 (7.6% increase). In 2017H1 toll revenue from cars amounted to PLN 99,044 thousand and was higher by 6.9% than in 2016H1 (PLN 92,627 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT for cars is mainly due to the fact that 2016 was a leap year.
As far as trucks are concerned, the Average Daily Traffic increased by approximately 6.7%, i.e. from 6,387 vehicles in 2016H1, to 6,815 vehicles in 2017H1. In 2017H1 toll revenue from trucks amounted to PLN 49,363 thousand and was higher by 15.5% than in 2016H1 (PLN 42,756 thousand). Difference between dynamics of growth of toll revenue as compared to dynamics of growth of ADT for trucks results from (i) the leap year in 2016, (ii) the change of toll rates since March 1, 2017 (from PLN 16.5 to PLN 18 and from PLN 26.5 to PLN 30) and (iii) differences in vehicle category structure (depending on the category different toll rates are applicable).
Management Board believes that the positive trend in traffic growth is related to the developments in macroeconomic situation and is also the result of users’ appreciation of high standard of motorway.
