Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group’s summary of H1 2019

Press Releases 1 August 2019

Mysłowice, 1 August 2019 - In H1 2019, the Stalexport Autostrady Capital Group increased its sales revenue. On the other hand, due to higher costs of sale and higher operating costs, there was a decrease in net profit.

In the reporting period under analysis, the revenue generated by the Stalexport Autostrady S.A. Capital Group went up by 5% compared to H1 2018, amounting to ca. PLN 168 million.

The net profit dropped by 60% to PLN 37.5 million. EBITDA totalled PLN 95.3 million.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2018, the net profit is a result of the increase in the costs of sale, mainly due to rising costs of establishing a provision for replacement of surface by PLN 23.7 million. In addition, in H1 2019, the operating costs of the Stalexport Autostrady Group amounted to PLN 108.9 million and were 173% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year, mainly due to the fact that the current period incorporates the costs related to payments to the State Treasury in the amount of PLN 44.4 million that were not included in the comparative period.

The highest impact on the consolidated financial result of the Capital Group is exerted by activities consisting in the management and operation of the concession section of the A4 motorway that are carried out by Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A. (SAM) belonging to the Group.

The traffic intensity increased by 1.7% compared to H1 2018, i.e. to 43.9 thousand vehicles per day. This growth concerns both passenger cars (1.7%) and trucks (1.6%). In connection with the above and due to the change in the toll fees for trucks (from 1 March 2019), the revenue from toll collection went up to PLN 165.9 million, i.e. 5% more than in H1 2018.

In the reporting period under analysis, we proceeded with the replacement of the surface on the A4 motorway Katowice-Kraków as well as investments related to the modernisation of motorway drainage system and the renovation of bridge structures. In H1 2019, the Capital Group took action aimed at introducing another form of payment for using the concession section of the A4 motorway based on so-called videotolling, which was launched on 16 July this year.

Emil Wąsacz, CEO of the Management Board of Stalexport Autostrady S.A. Stalexport Autostrada Małopolska S.A.:

In 2019, we proceeded with the development of motorway infrastructure on the section under the Group’s management. We have launched a system called videotolling, i.e. a service that allows to collect the toll from the customer’s bank or credit card assigned to the vehicle’s licence plate, which is read by a camera on the motorway tollgate.

By 2020, we will continue to replace the road surface of the motorway on a total stretch of 42.4 km.

As has become customary, we wish to emphasise our interest in the inclusion of the A4 motorway section under our management into the national toll collection system. Our position on this matter has not changed for many years. Our priority is the interoperability of the toll collection systems which will allow drivers to use Polish motorways comfortably and efficiently.
